Lync 2013 client update KB2825630 – lync status in system tray

Microsoft has released an update for Microsoft Lync 2013.

 

This update provides the latest fixes for Lync 2013.

 

This KB2825630 update fixes the issue that are described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base articles:

  • 2880161 You can’t drag a contact from Lync 2013 to another application
  • 2880163 Proxy authentication dialog box appears when you sign in to Lync 2013
  • 2880164 Instant message sent from Lync Web App displays wrong symbols in Lync 2013
  • 2880167 Can’t sign in to Lync 2013 when a user logs on to a computer by using an account from a different AD forest
  • 2882812 A proxy authentication dialog box appears when you upload a PowerPoint presentation in Lync 2013
  • 2882813 Can’t sign in to Lync 2013 on a computer that is running Windows 7
  • 2882814 Extended character is displayed incorrectly in a disclaimer in Lync 2013
  • 2854650 You cannot start a collaboration application that is integrated with Lync 2013

 

Also it fixes system tray icon for Lync 2013 client.

With update we can again have Lync Client system tray icon which shows client status.

he following file is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center:

32-bit Download the 32-bit Lyncloc update package now.

64-bit Download the 64-bit Lyncloc update package now.

You will find there information how to resolve common problems like:

  • A Lync user does not receive a contact request from a Skype user
  • A Lync user removes a Skype user, but the Skype user can still see Lync user’s presence and send IMs
  • When a Lync user calls a Skype user, the call sometimes fails
  • Office 365 Small Business customers have External communications turned on, but can’t connect to Skype users
  • Skype users signed in with a new Microsoft account notice a delay of several minutes in seeing the presence status of a newly-added Lync contact

Microsoft Lync 2013 does not update status based on Outlook Calendar KB2804472

Lync2013From the beginning, when we installed the Microsoft Lync 2013 client, we had a problem with the fact that Lync 2013 does not update the status on the basis of meetings listed in the Outlook calendar.

The result of this was that we had to adjust the status of Lync 2013 client manually for Busy eg.: when a calendar appointment was entered, and then adjust it to Available, after appointment.

We tried different ways to resolve this problem, and make Lync 2013 to automatically update status: reinstall the Lync 2013 client, removing all data from the directory:

C:\Users\rszatkowski\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync

remove and recreate Lync user account, change Windows OS version to 7 or 8 with the same result.

Unfortunately, nothing helped, so this weekend we decided to finally take the subject seriously.
