Whats new in Symantec Enterprise Vault 10.0.3 ?

New version supports Exchange 2013, SharePoint 2013 and Outlook 2013.

Office Visio Stencil for Exchange 2013

Microsoft released Visio stencil for Microsoft Exchange 2013.

This stencil contains Exchange 2013 specific icons to help you create visual representations of Microsoft Exchange 2013 deployments, including on-premises, hybrid, and Office 365.

Few days ago on Microsoft published Help files for Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 as an offline version.

Files can be downloaded from:

Two files are available:

  • Exch2013HybridHelp.exe – Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Hybrid Deployments
  • Exch2013OnPremHelp.exe –  Release to Manufacturing (RTM) version of Microsoft Exchange Server 2013

Microsoft Exchange Server TechNet Library – changed URLs

Exchange Team Blog inform in post Exchange Server TechNet Library URLs updated that they have updated Exchange TechNet Library URLs.

So now link (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124558.aspx)) to Exchange 2010 documentation will take you to Exchange Server 2013 documentation.

But if you want to get to Exchange Server 2010 documentation you need only modify this link at the end and add (v=exchg.141) like below:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124558(v=exchg.141).aspx

Then you will get to Exchange 2010 documentation on TechNet

It’s not to much work to update your browser shortcuts.

Microsoft Exchange 2013 certification MCSE changes

With the introduction of Microsoft Exchange Server 2013, Microsoft also introduced new exams for critificate MCSE Exchange 2013.
MCSE – Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert: Messaging

No more MCITP, there is no more MCITP certifications for Exchange 2013. Now it’s replaced by MCSE in Messaging certificate. To get this certificate you have to pass two exams the path for Exchange 2013 certification:

 

and have MCSA Windows Server 2012 Certificate.

To get MCSE Messaging certificate you can take following path:

If you are new to Microsoft certification, first you need to take three exams to get MCSA in Windows Server 2012

 

or if you have MCSA in Windows Server 2008 you can upgrade your skills to MCSA Windows Server 2012 passing exam 70-417

In Microsoft Exchange 2013 Preview, PowerShell still plays an important role.
In new edition PowerShell for Exchange 2013 is based on PowerShell v3 and Management Framework 3.0 and in addition it has been enhanced with new cmdlets.
Even in Microsoft Exchange 2010 PowerShell allow administrators to perform many complicated things that were not available in the graphics console EMC. That allows us to create scripts to facilitate the daily administrative work.

By using PowerShell version 3.0 the new Exchange server support gained by using the commands on the functionality and simplicity.
For version 2.0 to search a box for a particular look like this:

 Get-Mailbox | Where {$_.Name –like “*smith*”}

now in PowerShell version 3.0 it looks:

Get-Mailbox | where name –like “*smith*”
