Microsoft Outlook cannot change the default folder names using ResetFolderNames

When you:

  • connect to a Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 mailbox by using Microsoft Outlook.
  • use the English UI in Outlook, so the default folder names (such as Inbox or Sent Items) are displayed in English.
  • install a new language pack for Outlook, and then you change the Outlook UI to the new language.
  • restart Outlook by running the Outlook.exe /ResetFolderNames command to reset the default folder names to the new language.

then folder names in Outlook are not changed to the new language.

Exchange 2010 count mailbox mobile devices partnership

In Exchange Server environment where is a limit of ActiveSync partnership with mailbox.

When you reach this limit then you won’t be able to connect any new devices to the mailbox.

This limit is set in ThrottlingPolicy using parameter EASMaxDevices

To check current setting of EASMaxDevices, open Exchange Management Shell and run:

Get-ThrottlingPolicy | select name, EASMaxDevices, EASMaxConcurrency

 

As a result you will get all ThrottlingPolicies available in Exchange environment and how many mobile devices can you connect to the mailbox, and also using EASMaxConcurrency you will see how many connections in one time can be accepted to the mailbox.

Stellar EDB to PST converter – review

All Microsoft Exchange servers administrators sometimes have to restore mailbox database.

When you restore database you will get .edb file which can be mounted in Exchange Server and then you can use PowerShell console to restore emails, notes, contacts, one mailbox or more and etc.

Using Stellar EDB to PST Converter you can:

When you select Convert Online EDB to PST then you can connect to your Exchange Server.

You can select one mailbox or you can connect to all mailboxes on server.

Remember you need to have full access permission to mailboxes which you want to connect.

Converter connect to mailbox or mailboxes really fast, but it depends on how many mailboxes you have on Exchange server.

Also when you select connect to all mailboxes on server sometimes you can see Mailboxes with status Disconnected.

There may be more than one reasons for disconnected mailbox. If mailboxes are disconnected because they do not have ‘Mailbox Rights’, you can grant ‘Mailbox Rights’ to disconnected mailboxes.

Next you can select folder from folder tree in connected mailbox and then you will see all messages in those folder.
How fast messages will be loaded it depends on how many messages are in this folder.

Now you can export one or more emails to .MSG or .EML file or you can export whole mailbox to .PST file or separate .MSG, .EML files.

In Stellar EDB to PST Converter windows you can see message body and attachment but you can’t open attachment.

Another option in Stellar Phoenix EDB to PST Converter is to run it to work with offline EDB file.

So start Converter, and choose Convert Offline EDB to PST

In new window you can select .EDB file and select Exchange Server version.

Next just click Start.

Converter will scan mailbox database .EDB file and will show you all mailboxes which this file contain.

This porocess will take some time.

Next you can export mailboxes to .PST file like before in online mode.

Update Rollup 12 for Exchange 2007 SP3 – KB2903911

Microsoft released RU12 for Exchange Server 2007 SP3.

Exchange 2010 message routing to public folders stuck

If you have two or more public folders databases in Exchange 2010 servers then you stosmailiprobably think that you have HA for public folders.

All of your public folders are replicated between those public folders databases and you think that when you will lost one server with PF database then you have another one and you wll have no problem with public folders.

If you think that then you are wrong !

In mailbox database you can specify public folder database for this mailbox database.

But if you shutdown one Exchange 2010 server with Public Folders database like your default server with PF’s then you will see that messages sent to mail enabled public folders stuck at the delivery queue on each Hub Transport server.
When you check this queue you will see that all of those messages are trying to get to public folder database on shutdown server, they are not redirected to available public folders database on another server.

So how to resolve this problem ?

First Microsoft recommend to install at least RU4 for Exchange 2010 SP2.
But this won’t help to resolve this problem.

You need to do something more.

In C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Bin directory find file:

EdgeTransport.exe.config

Edit it and manually add the following information to EdgeTransport.exe.config file:

<add key="SmartRoutingForPublicFoldersEnabled" value="True" />

Now save and restart Exchange Transport Service.

You need to do this on each Exchange 2010 Hub Transport server.

Now you will get fully redundant environment with Public Folders.

If one server with public folders database is missing then message are routed to another server with public folders database.

If this server will be missing for long time then remember to change default Public Folder database in mailbox database settings.
